The Mongolian Government has decided to issue a nationwide-lockdown order from Saturday 10 April until Sunday 25 April. During the public emergency readiness and preparation, the Government will distribute one-time bonuses of MNT 300,000 for each citizen from the Oyu Tolgoi tax payments. This is the first time that the Mongolian Government will be distributing cash to its citizens to help them overcome financial difficulties resulting from the pandemic.
Since November 2020, Mongolia has imposed various strict quarantine measures nationwide, these have been from either 14 days to a month. The bulk of the cases have been in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, where over half the country’s population lives.
So far, 26 percent of the Mongolian population has received the first vaccination in the rollout which began on 23 February, 2021.
