Mongolia’s coronavirus epidemic is getting “quite out of hand” as more provinces confirm infections and number of daily cases surpasses 200.
Today (24 March), the country confirmed 218 new cases of the virus: 176 of them in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, 27 in Uvurkhangai Province, 18 in Darkhan-Uul Province and five in Tuv Province. So far, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country of three million is reached to 5610 with four confirmed deaths.
Last week, Ts.Ganzorig, Chairman of the Government Media and Public Relations Office reported that the Government will order a strict-lockdown if daily COVID-19 cases exceed 200. This has now happened; Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh has said that the government will issue a strict-lockdown from 5 April.
