On 7 March, a Bactrian camel gave birth to rare twin calves in the western Mongolian province of Gobi-Altai. The camel is owned by herder B.Nyamdorj. Previously, there were other twin camel calves in livestock owned by B.Nyamdorj’s brother.
The Bactrian camel, also known as the Mongolian camel or domestic Bactrian camel, is a large even-toed ungulate native to the steppes of Central Asia. It has two humps, in contrast to the single-humped Dromedary camel.
Mongolians consider that if a camel gives birth to twin calves – it is sign of the beginning of a good year.
