To mark the occasion of International Women’s Day (8 March), the National Statistics Office has released some statistical figures on Mongolian women.

Mongolia has a population of 3.3 million; over 50 percent of whom are women. In addition, 54.4 percent of Mongolian women who are eligible to vote, actively participate in elections.

Far more Mongolian women are now living in urban areas in Mongolia. According to statistics, currently 69 percent of women reside in towns and cities, while 31 percent live in the rural areas; this represents an increase of two percent on 2018.

The average life expectancy of Mongolian women is 76 while the average age of first getting married is 26.

Mongolian women give birth to 2-3 children on average. Currently 5.4 percent of Mongolian women are single mothers – this is a notable 4.8 percent jump from 2018.
