The Mongolian Government has decided to resume full operations of the Altanbulag border crossing checkpoint with from 23 February. Located in the Selenge Province on the border with Russia, this crossing is one of the most important in the country.
The border crossing points will open for movement of freight vehicles of all types of goods. Foreign freight drivers will have to drop off their trailers at the clearance and inspection zone for pickup by domestic freight forwarders bound for the final destination.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Altanbulag border checkpoint is currently operating only under limited regime, serving for cross-border transportation of medicine, medical supplies and foodstuffs only.
Also, the Tsagaannuur border crossing point in the Bayan-Ulgii Province and the Ereentsav rail border checkpoint in the Dornod Province – at the western and eastern ends of the country respectively – will open for transportation of livestock fodder from February 23.
