Mr. D.Nyamkhuu, director-general of the Mongolian National Centre for Communicable Diseases (NCCD), has beenremoved from his post for not properly performing his duties.

His dismissal came after the poor treatment of a woman who had tested positive for COVID-19 and was transferred from a maternity hospital to the NCCD together with her newborn baby last week.

Mass public protests were triggered in Ulaanbaatar as photos emerged showing that the woman wore slippers and no coat in freezing weather during the transfer.

The NCCD is the main organization in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in Mongolia
