Yesterday night (19 January), a woman who has just given birth was confirmed with coronavirus in the First Maternity Hospital in Ulaanbaatar. When medical workers transferring the woman with her new born child from hospital to the National Centre for Communicative Diseases, they failed to provide the woman with warm clothes. The picture of the woman wearing only a bathrobe and slippers coming out of the hospital to where an ambulance was waiting in -20 degrees Celsius has gone online and is raising a storm of criticism.
Today, the leader of True and Right Party demonstrated on Sukhbaatar Square, in the centre of Ulaanbaatar. He too wore only a bathrobe and slippers; the daytime temperature was minus 7 deg C. He accused health workers of repeatedly being inhumane, resulting in suffering for many people in their fight against Covid-19. To date, 3 people have died of the virus in Mongolia.
