The Mongolian government downgraded its state of emergency preparedness in Ulaanbaatar from 11 January. Also, in connection with this decision, all but 18 business categories are permitted to resume limited operations. In addition, the National Emergency Commission has decided to permit operations under five additional categories, namely: electronics, furniture, smartphone outlets, kiosks and ski resorts from 18 January.
Residents in Ulaanbaatar, one of most air-polluted cities of the world, have been frustrated at being struck at home all day and forbidden to go out, go climbing in the nearby hills and breathing fresh air during winter months due to the Covid-19 restrictions. Therefore, the NOC decided to give permission to residents in Ulaanbaatar to go climbing for boosting their immune systems and general wellbeing.
