On Friday 8 January, the Mongolian State Emergency Committee ordered the complete control of all movement into and out of Ulaanbaatar’s Bayangol District and the area immediately surrounding the Third Central Clinic Hospital until 11 January, to facilitate medical surveillance and contact tracing.
Only emergency personnel will be permitted to transit this area until the enhanced restriction is lifted. Supermarkets, pharmacies and hospitals in this area are allowed to operate.
Medical teams are planning to conduct COVID-19 testing at each apartment within this area. Peace Avenue along the district’s southern border is expected to remain open to vehicle traffic. Currently, the Bayangol District has registered 72 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
