Just before New Year‘s Eve, the Mongolian Government passed a resolution on re-establishing the Children’s Fund and allocating 10 billion Mongolian Tugriks (3.5 million U.S. dollars) to kick-start it.
The fund, initiated by the Ministry of Culture, will be used for building new facilities for children’s and youth development such as children’s libraries, children’s theaters as well as cultural and sports complexes.
Furthermore, during a live concert dubbed “Mongolian Children-Mongolian Culture” dedicated to the launch of the fund held on several TV stations, members of the public and organisations donated very generously. The amount contributed exceeded MNT 2.2 billion.
About 50 years ago, a similar fund was first established in the country for building a children’s palace, a children’s park, an international children’s camp and other facilities in the country’s capital Ulaanbaatar.
