Lockdown in four Mongolian provinces

Today (11 November), Ulaanbaatar, where half of Mongolia’s population lives, has been put under lockdown after a truck driver and his wife tested positive for coronavirus. The driver was confirmed with coronavirus infection after returning home following 21 days of isolation.

Subsequently, four Mongolian provinces announced lockdown measures and closing their roads. The north-western province of Uvs, has closed in and out roads transport from today (11 November) for three days. In Zavkhan province, nine road checkpoints have been established for restricting car movements. A total of 43 people who travelled from Ulaanbaatar have been put under isolation in Zavkhan province for observation and coronavirus testing. Furthermore, Dornod and Bayan-Ulgii provinces have announced local lockdowns.
