Ulaanbaatar emergency lockdown announced!

The National Emergency Commission of Mongolia has announced a three-day lockdown in the capital after a 29-year-old local truck driver and his wife were confirmed as having the coronavirus infection. The truck driver tested positive for coronavirus after being released home following 21-days of isolation at the Enkhsaran resort.  The couple has two children aged 1 and 4 years old; they have been put in isolation at the National Centre for Communicative Diseases for tests.

Therefore, Ulaanbaatar will be closed for three days from 11-14 November. As part of quarantine measures, all levels of educational institutions including kindergartens, schools, universities, and training centres will be temporarily closed, and movement on highways and railways going in and out of Ulaanbaatar city will be restricted. Public facilities including theaters, museums, cinemas will be closed. Special regulations will also be implemented for public transport in the city. Alcohol sales are also banned.
