Mongolia closes two border crossings with Russia

Later today (30 October), the  Mongolian Government decided to close two border crossings with Russia for 21 days after two truck drivers were confirmed having coronavirus. The border crossings namely; Tsagaan Nuur and Borshoo have been open for the transportation of goods – mostly Russian fuel for Mongolia.

According to health officials, two Russian drivers who had been confirmed as having coronavirus, have been sent back.

As of today, a total of 30 truck drivers who entered Mongolia have been diagnosed with coronavirus. This is a significant number when one considers that, so far, Mongolia has had only 340 confirmed cases of coronavirus – all of them are imported.
