Later today (30 October), the Mongolian Government decided to close two border crossings with Russia for 21 days after two truck drivers were confirmed having coronavirus. The border crossings namely; Tsagaan Nuur and Borshoo have been open for the transportation of goods – mostly Russian fuel for Mongolia.
According to health officials, two Russian drivers who had been confirmed as having coronavirus, have been sent back.
As of today, a total of 30 truck drivers who entered Mongolia have been diagnosed with coronavirus. This is a significant number when one considers that, so far, Mongolia has had only 340 confirmed cases of coronavirus – all of them are imported.
