MIAT evacuates 90 Mongolians from Hungary

On Monday 26 October, Mongolia repatriated 90 of its nationals from Hungary with MIAT charter aircraft.

The chartered flight from Budapest to Ulaanbaatar landed at Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport on Monday afternoon, with 90 passengers onboard. The passengers including pregnant women, children, students and those with financial or other problems will be isolated at designated facilities for 21 days.

Following its suspension of international commercial flights at the outset of the pandemic, Mongolia has repatriated over 26,000 nationals by chartered flights, trains and buses from different parts of the world

According to WHO data, as od 26 October, Hungary has reported 61,563 cases of COVID-19 with 1,472 deaths.

As of today (27 October), Mongolia has reported a total of 340 COVID-19 cases, all of which were imported. No local transmissions or deaths have been reported in the country so far.
