The People’s Representative Council of the Capital City will hold its first meeting on Friday (23 October) at 11.00 a.m. At the meeting, Chairman of the Ulaanbaatar City Council will be elected and party groups will be established.
On 15 October, Mongolians voted to elect the members for the Citizens’ Representative Councils for nation’s 21 provinces, their 330 soums (rural districts), and the nine districts of the capital Ulaanbaatar. Over 17,000 candidates from nine political parties and coalitions and independents ran for the local elections for 8,169 seats nationwide.
In the Citizens’ Representative Khural (council), the Mongolian People’s Party has won 34 seats out of 45 mandates, whilst the Democratic Party took eight seats as well as three candidates elected from the National Labour Party.
