Mongolian baritone returns at stage of La Scala theatre after long holiday

Nicknamed the ‘Mongolian baritone’, opera singer E.Amartuvshin has performed important roles in almost all Italy’s big theatres – not to mention many of the world’s top venues. Now, E.Amartuvshin will perform at La Scala opera house in Milan, Italy. The baritone is to sing the part of Amonasro, king of Ethiopia, in Verdi’s opera Aida. The opera to feature E.Amartuvshin will take place from 6-19 October at the Milan theater.

Mongolia’s greatest musical export – apart from the HU – has stayed at home in Sukhbaatar province in the north of Mongolia almost half a year after returning in February amid the coronavirus restrictions.

La Scala opera house was built in 1776 on the former location of the church of Santa Maria alla Scala, from which the theatre got its name.
