A total of 216 foreigners from 15 countries arrived in Mongolia yesterday (30 September) on board a MIAT chartered flight.
The passengers included foreign citizens married to Mongolian nationals, their children, staff of international organizations and diplomatic missions operating in Mongolia, their family members, and foreigners with a permanent residence permit in the country. They are now being quarantined at isolation centres for 21 days for observation of the symptoms of coronavirus.
Mongolia announced an advanced state of emergency readiness and preparation against the COVID-19 pandemic on 12 February, taking such measures as the suspension of international commercial passenger flights.
Since then, Mongolia has evacuated at least its 23,000 nationals from abroad with chartered flights and buses or trains.
