Mongolia is planning to bring back some 3000 of its nationals with chartered flights from pandemic hit-countries in October. Ulaanbaatar is expected to operate 11 chartered flights; half of them are to Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, which has become a hub for repatriations in the Asia-Pacific region.
Following its suspension of international commercial flights, Mongolia has repatriated more than 23,000 nationals on chartered flights, buses and trains from different parts of the world.
As of Friday, the country has reported a total of 313 COVID-19 cases, all of which were imported.
No local transmissions or deaths have been reported in Mongolia so far.
