Mongolia marks National Book Day Festival

On August 24, 2012, former President Elbegdorj issued a decree instituting a Book Day to promote reading and publishing books. The decree provides for instituting national Book Days on the third Saturdays of September each year.

Therefore, the ‘National Book Festival’ kicked off today (18 September) nationwide under motto ‘Unlimited-Books-Mind Freedom’. The festival will continue until 4 October. Mini book fairs have been established in each district of Ulaanbaatar and on Sukhbaatar Square in order to preventing crowds and the spread of coronavirus infection.

The festival is giving opportunities to readers to meet with writers and authors and selling books at discounted prices.
