Mongolia will meet its domestic demand for wheat and potatoes. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industries is expected to harvest 487,600 tons of wheat and 237,000 tons of potato this autumn. Nearly 320 thousand tonnes of wheat can provide Mongolia’s annual flour demand.
Currently, there are 10 to 12 flour mills operating in Mongolia, and three to four small workshops operate seasonally. At 80 percent capacity, the 12 mills can process about 500,000 tons of wheat a year.
