A total of 250 Mongolians returned home earlier today (11 August) on a chartered flight from Prague to Ulaanbaatar. The Czech Government chartered aircraft flew to Mongolia at the request of 192 Mongolians who had applied to return home via the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) – in other words, not via the Mongolian MFA. Subsequently, 21 families with young children, three people with health problems, four elderly people and 32 others were included in the flight.
The Czech Government and the IOM helped the Mongolians stranded in Eastern Europe to return home by providing the charter plane and costs. The ticket prices and the cost of 21 days of isolation in Mongolia will be covered by Prague.
