Pregnant Mongolian women repatriated by charter flight from Tokyo

Mongolia repatriated 257 nationals from Japan on a chartered flight Friday (7 Aug).

The special flight from Tokyo to Ulaanbaatar, which landed at the Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport on Friday night, carried pregnant women, elderly people, children, students, disabled and sick people, and those with financial and other problems. They have been isolated at designated facilities for 21 days.

Following its suspension of international commercial flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mongolia has, so far, brought home more than 16,000 nationals by chartered flights, buses and trains from different parts of the world. Mongolia is expected to send at least 14 more special flights this month to COVID-19-hit countries to bring home more nationals.
