A suspected case of bubonic plague has been reported today (6 July) in Bayan-Ulgii, western Mongolian province. According to our sources, a 15-year-old boy with a fever admitted in provincial hospital after handling a dead marmot killed by a dog.
Separately, two people aged 17-27 have been confirmed with bubonic plague in neighbouring Khovd Province after eating marmot meat. They are now under treatment in the hospital and are recovering.
