According to statistics, there are 105,000 people with disabilities living in Mongolia; this figure represents 10 percent of voters. However, visually impaired people cannot fully enjoy their democratic right to voting due to the lack of election materials in Braille and sign language presentation of candidates and election campaigns.
However, things are changing for the better after T.Dorjkhand, a candidate from ‘Right Person Electorat’ coalition in the Khan-Uul District of Ulaanbaatar printed her election materials in Braille. The move has been applauded for considering people with disabilities and recognizing the equal rights of all voters.
