Central Military Hospital braces for influx of 2000 COVID-19 suspects

The total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Mongolia grew to 185 after six cadets were tested positive for coronavirus.  The cadets who returned from Russia on 13 May, were placed under 21-day mandatory isolation, and diagnosed with the virus on the 18th day of their isolation.

As of today (2 June 2020), a total of 141 patients with coronavirus are under treatment at the National Centre for Communicative Diseases. So far, 44 people have recovered from coronavirus; 16 of them are under observation at resorts after being discharged from the NCCD – a further 15 are in self-quarantine at home.

Mongolia has placed 8491 suspected people under observation for symptoms of coronavirus after being repatriated from foreign countries; 1792 of them have remained under quarantine.  Up to today, Mongolia has tested over 15300 people for coronavirus.

The country of three million will repatriate some 2000 of its nationals from eight pandemic-hit countries in this month. Those people will be placed under mandatory quarantines of 21 days at the Central Military Hospital. Therefore, in-patients currently at the Central Military Hospital are to be transferred to other medical centres in Ulaanbaatar.
