Mongolia will hold its parliamentary election on 24 June. However, some Mongolians who are under isolation for observation of coronavirus symptoms will be unable to vote, emergency staff reported. According to the Law on the COVID-19 Pandemic, Mongolia will curb the constitutional rights of some people for protecting national security and public health. With an aim for preventing and mitigating any financial and economic risks, the pandemic law was approved by parliament and will be effective for just the duration of the crisis.
Mongolia has announced 21 days of mandatory isolation and another 14 days of self-isolation to those who have been repatriated from foreign countries in order to prevent local transmission among the population. The country of three million has reported a total of 179 confirmed cases of coronavirus; all of them are imported.
