Most cities in the world have clothing donation bins – many in the belief that it will be given to those in need or sold in charity shops to raise funds. In Mongolia, the first ever second-hand shop for buying unused items and clothes from people opened in 2019. Recently, clothing donation bins are popping up across the Khan-Uul District of Ulaanbaatar. Aiming to become an eco-district of the Mongolian capital, the Khan-Uul District Administration has installed a few bins for collecting old clothes in the River Garden apartment complex and in front of KFC Zaisan Village.
