Seven of the Mongolian cadets who were recently repatriated from Russia were diagnosed on Wednesday (27 May) as having coronavirus. This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 148. On Tuesday, Mongolia evacuated 171 students who had been stranded in Russia. In addition, a total of 594 Mongolians returned home through the Russian-Mongolian Kyakhta-Altanbulag border crossings; they were then transported to Ulaanbaatar by train for 21-day isolation.

Fortunately, the total number of recoveries in the country has increased to 43. On Wednesday (27 May), six Mongolian students were discharged from the National Centre for Communicative Diseases.

There have been 4000 Mongolians living or studying in Russia; 90 percent of them are students. Up to now, 2000 students have returned home since Mongolia began repatriating its nationals from Russia through the Kyakhta-Altanbulag border crossings; today 764 students out of remaining 1047 in Russia have returned home.
