Mongolians will now have three days of public holidays in June. The country marks International Children’s Day as public holiday on the first of the month.
From this year, the central Asian country will celebrate Buddha Day as a national holiday under amendments to the Law on Public Holidays. Buddha Day, also known as Purnima and Vesak, falls on the 15th day of the first month of summer each year, according to the Buddhist calendar. In 2020, the holy day will be on 5 June.
This year, the country of three million will hold its parliamentary election on 24 June. The voting day has been declared a public holiday.
