Mongolia’s Covid-19 cases rise to 140

Mongolia has reported today (18 May) that the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country has risen to 140. The 57 new cases are students who were recently evacuated from Russia. Four of them tested positive today; two are under quarantine in Orkhon Province, one in Darkhan-Uul Province and cadet in the National Centre for Communicative Diseases.  Currently, 119 Mongolians who returned through the Altanbulag border crossing have been quarantined in Orkhon, 136 in Darkhan-Uul, 20 in Selenge and 134 in Tuv Provinces.

Separately, three Mongolians were discharged today from the NCCD after having fully recovered from coronavirus after 30-45 days of treatment. Mongolian doctors have cured a total of 23 people with Covid-19; four of them foreigners since 10 March when first confirmed case in the country reported. The 54-year-old French national who become Mongolia’s first case of the disease, left the country on 2 May with a charter flight after fully recovering from the infection.
