Field hospital in Mongolia ready for possible surge in COVID-19

A field hospital is ready to start taking COVID-19 patients if Ulaanbaatar’s hospitals become overwhelmed with cases. The field hospital, which meets international standards, was established at the Rehabilitation and Training Centre of the 113th division of the National Emergency Management Agency of Mongolia. Costing EUR 6.5 million, the field hospital has a capacity of receiving 65-100 people at once. The hospital has divisions for registration, tomography, laboratory, surgery, pharmacy, internal patients, intensive care, and a blood stockpile.

The hospital was a part of the NEMA emergency readiness and preparation exercise entitled ‘Covid-19-Cooperation and Relief’ which was conducted on 6-8 May.
