Yesterday (7 May), Mongolia conducted a special training for preparation and readiness in the Chingeltei District of Ulaanbaatar as a precautionary measure for a possible ‘worst case scenario’ Covid-19 outbreak in the country. Over 150,000 residents and over 8000 enterprises in Chingeltei, which is located in the centre of the capital, were confined to their homes and transportation halted. Also, a total of 2100 law enforcement officers from professional organisations worked for ensuring the implementation of curfew and conducting training in 63.9 sq. km of area of the district.
In addition, essential food lists for the totally locked down residents were announced. The list consists of 9 types of products, namely; milk, salt, meat, flour, hand sanitizer, toothpaste, masks, soap and toilet paper. The listed products would be distributed or sold by strict quotas based on the individual needs of each person under decision of the Health Ministry.
