South Korea helps establish Mongolian Tourism Training Centre

Mongolia aims to raise the tourism industry’s contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) to 10 percent in the coming years. Therefore, a Tourism Training Centre is to be established in Artsat Villa, outside Ulaanbaatar. The Tourism Training Centre will elevate tourism service standards in Mongolia. The project will introduce a master training programme, advanced textbooks, and handouts that follow international hospitality standards and global trends, thus playing a big role in training tourism workers who can provide professional services to international travelers and tourists. The project will be financed by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) at a cost of KRW 5.5 billion (USD 4,488,000).

The Mongolian ministries of Tourism and Finance signed an agreement with their South Korean counterparts in June 2019 to jointly implement the Project to Strengthen the Capability of Mongolian tourism workforce. As part of the 2019-2020 project, a master plan on the capacity building of the Mongolian tourism workforce and a training program based on that master plan were developed and experimental training courses took place .
