South Korea sends rapid test-kits to Mongolia

On Tuesday (4 May), Mongolia received a total of 30,000 rapid COVID-19 test kits from South Korea, reports the Mongolian Health Ministry.

“The South Korean government plans to donate COVID-19 test kits worth 250,000 U.S. dollars in total to Mongolia. In the first phase, we are providing 30,000 rapid COVID-19 test kits,” South Korean Ambassador to Mongolia Lee Yeo-hong said during a handover ceremony.

He described the donation as a warm-hearted gesture from the South Korean people to support Mongolia’s fight against the pandemic.

As of Tuesday, Mongolia has confirmed 41 COVID-19 cases, all of which are imported, including four foreign nationals.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and South Korea.

Mongolians in South Korea form the largest overseas population of Mongolian nationals. Currently, their number is estimated at 47,000, according to the Mongolian Foreign Ministry.
