Expelled MP challenges Justice Minister in upcoming election

A young politician and member of parliament from Mongolia’s ruling party N.Nomtoibayar was expelled from its ranks on January, 2019. Now N.Nomtoibayar has decided to stand independently for the upcoming 2020 parliamentary election. Subsequently, will be N.Nomtoibayar standing against Justice Minister Ts.Nyamdorj who is standing in the same constituency in the Orkhon province.

According to N.Nomtoibayar, his expulsion from parliament was masterminded by Ts.Nyamdorj, one of oldest and long-seating members of Mongolian parliament. Justice Minister Ts.Nyamdorj is currently heading the ‘Special Inspection in Conflict of Interest’ sub-committee.

This year, a record 208 independent candidates have registered to run for seats in the State Great Khural or Mongolian parliament.
