NEMA prepares for mega Covid-19 drill in UB

Mongolia has 40 confirmed cases of coronavirus; all of them are imported. However, the country of three million still has high risks of local transmission developing into a large-scale outbreak. Therefore, the Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) will hold a special training for preparation and readiness in the Chingeltei District of Ulaanbaatar as well as in the Darkhan-Uul and Selenge provinces.  The training will take place on 6-8 May.

On Thursday (7 May), over 150,000 residents and over 8000 enterprises in Chingeltei District, which is located in the centre of the capital, will be confined to their homes and transportation will be halted.

The Chingeltei District borders west with Bayangol, northern west with Songinokhairkhan as well as east and south with Sukhbaatar Districts of Ulaanbaatar. Subsequently, roads will be closed from the Mongol Post building to the Western Four-way Intersection and in a northerly direction to Chingeltei between 8.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. on 7 May. However, fire engines, ambulances as well as utility service vehicles will be allowed in and out of the district.
