The Ulaanbaatar City Administration took the decision earlier today (1 May) to reopen cultural and sports centers, thus, relaxing the restrictions imposed in late February.
“Based on instructions given by the central government and requests by the public, City Mayor Sainbuyan Amarsaikhan on Thursday issued a decree for reopening cultural and sports centers, such as sports halls, swimming pools, dance clubs, and training centers in the city from May 1,” the mayor’s press office said in a statement.
Visitors to the reopened centers must wear masks, while children under the age of 12 will not be permitted entrance.
Ulaanbaatar, home to more than half of the country’s population of 3.2 million, is the most densely populated city in Mongolia.
The country has reported 38 cases of COVID-19 as of Friday. All confirmed cases, including four foreign nationals, are imported, with no local transmissions reported so far.
