‘Patient Number One’ – the French national who became the first patient with Covid-19 in Mongolia will return home with the MIAT chartered flight to Frankfurt in Germany tomorrow (2 May) and from there, back to France. The 57-year-old was discharged on 27 April from the National Centre for Communicative Diseases after 47 days of treatment. He is currently staying at the ‘Enkh Saran’ health resort. The father of two began receiving treatment at the NCCD on 10 March as soon as he was confirmed as having coronavirus. He arrived on 2 March in Mongolia and contacted directly nearly 300 people before falling ill. Fortunately, all of the people who had been in direct contact with him tested negative for coronavirus.
Currently, Mongolia has 38 confirmed cases of COVID-19; all of them are imported and 10 recovered.
Mongolia brought 278 its nationals home from Seoul yesterday (30 April). Seoul’s Incheon International Airport has developed into a transport hub for evacuation flights in the Asia-Pacific region; Thursday’s evacuees have gathered from seven countries.
The second evacuation plane will fly to Seoul again today (1 May) for bringing back Mongolians who have been in detention centres for overstaying their visas as well as illegal workers.
