Our news.mn has spoken to J.Tsolmonjargal, the only Mongolian at the site of a blaze south of Seoul that killed 38 of his colleagues. Our countryman was lucky to escape with his life in a warehouse fire which occurred in Icheon south of Seoul. According to him, 78 workers mostly foreigners were working at A and B block of the building of warehouse when fire erupted. The fire started at A block and J.Tsolmonjargal was at B block. He went to B block at 10.00 a.m. for electricity work two-and-half hours before the fire started.
J.Tsolmonjargal has been living in South Korea for 15 years with his wife and two children.
The fire at a construction site in South Korea injured another 10; eight are in serious condition, while the two others sustained minor injuries. Police forensic specialists are still trying to identify some of the 38 construction workers killed in a warehouse fire, after wrapping up a search and rescue operation in one of the country’s deadliest blazes in years. According to the police tally of the confirmed deaths, the death toll includes one Chinese, two Kazakhs workers; the rest are Koreans.
They said “rapid combustion” occurred while workers were working on an underground level of the warehouse, adding that they are investigating the cause of the blaze. A total of 410 people including 335 firefighters, were mobilised to respond to the accident. The fire was extinguished five hours after it occurred at 1:32 p.m. local time.
