Nicknamed the ‘Mongolian baritone’, opera singer E.Amartuvshin has performed important roles in almost all Italy’s big theatres. Currently, Mongolia’s greatest musical export – apart from the HU – is staying at home in Sukhbaatar province in the north of Mongolia after returning in February amid the coronavirus restrictions.
E.Amartuvshing has lived in foreign countries for the last four years following his career. However, ‘Il baritono mongolo’ will live as herder after retiring from opera, he said in a newspaper interview.
Clearly, this is very much tongue in cheek and retirement is a long time off; E.Amartuvshin is already lined up to perform on the great stages of La Scala in Milan and the Metropolitan in New York as well as Austria in 2021.
