The National Emergency Commission decided earlier today (28 April) to extend the period of advanced emergency readiness until 1 June in order to prevent coronavirus. Advanced emergency readiness was first announced on 27 January and extended to end of this month.
Mongolia has 38 confirmed cases of coronavirus, all of which are imported. The country’s health officials are expecting that the number of confirmed cases will increase due to the next evacuation flights which have been announced to Seoul and Frankfurt.
A today’s meeting of the NEC, officials discussed opening education centres as well as restoring mineral transportation through the Sukhbaatar-Bichigt and Khovd-Bulgan border crossings.
