Two days ago, the National Emergency Commission announced that there will be more evacuation flights to Seoul and Frankfurt. The government-chartered flights will fly to the South Korean capital on 30 April and the central German city on 3 May, reported Colonel B.Uuganbayar, Deputy Chief of the National Emergency Management Agency.
But today (23 April), the NEC announced an additional flight to Seoul at the urgent request of Mongolians who are stuck in USA and Australia. The South Korean capital has emerged as a transit hub for evacuation flights in the Asia-Pacific Region. Currently, over 3000 Mongolians have applied to embassies and consulates in the USA and Australia to return home. Therefore, flights schedules have been changed. MIAT aircraft will fly to Seoul on 30 April and 1 May followed by Frankfurt on 2 May.
Approximately 9600 Mongolians staying in 35 countries have applied to return home.
