In the first quarter of 2020, the number of reported crimes against children has decreased by 44 percent to 310 cases nationwide from the same period of last year. In addition, the number of crimes involving children has decreased by 30 percent. According to D.Budzaan, head of the Children’s Department at the General Police Department, this is the result of the school quarantines and stay-home rules for preventing spread of coronavirus.

Unfortunately, 11 children have died in Mongolia since the beginning of 2020 caused mostly by accidents and parental negligence.

However, the number of alcohol-related domestic violence cases increased by 57 percent.
