The National Emergency Commission has announced a ‘mask challenge’, from 12 April to 31 May in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The action was taken because many Mongolians had decided the risk had passed and had stopped wearing masks in public. The National Policy Agency has approved the NEC’s decision.
Residents in Ulaanbaatar are being ordered to wear masks in public to contain the spread of COVID-19 — or face a MNT150,000 (USD 53) fine.
As of today, Mongolia has 30 cases of coronavirus, all of which are imported; five are fully cured.
