Seven Mongolians infected with COVID-19 in foreign countries

Major-General T.Badral, Head of the National Emergency Management Agency, reported today (10 April), that seven Mongolians living in foreign countries have been confirmed as having the coronavirus infection; two of them are in Moscow. Mongolia will bring back its nationals home, whether they are infected or not. The government has been chartering MIAT passenger aircraft to conduct the evacuation flights. The next plane will fly to South Korean capital, Seoul on 17 April.

Conducting evacuation flights is not simple as it requires the aircrews to go into strict quarantine upon return to Mongolia for 21 days, together with the people they have brought back.

A total of 110 Mongolian students are expected to arrive in Ulan-Ude, the capital city of the Russian Republic of Buryatia tomorrow (11 April).

The country of three million has reported 16 cases of coronavirus; all of which are ‘imported’ cases. Four of them have now fully recovered. As of today, three Turkish nationals, one Frenchman as well as seven Mongolian patients are still under treatment at the National Centre for Communicative Diseases; all are in a stable condition.

The French national, who arrived in Mongolia on 2 March became the first confirmed COVID-19 patient.
