Eight summer houses have been destroyed in a fire on Yargait Hill in the Chingeltei District of Ulaanbaatar. The blaze occurred earlier today (7 April). The National Emergency Management Agency received a call about the fire at 8.25 a.m.

A total of 14 firefighters with 11 fire engines worked to extinguish the fire which quickly covered a wide area due to the strong wind. The firefighters saved 38 summer houses from the fire before it spread any further.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

During the current extreme emergency situation due to coronavirus, many Mongolian families have moved into summer houses in order to flee the city and to spend self-quarantine in the fresh air.
