Today (3 April), the Mongolian Government chartered MIAT flight landed at Chinggis Khaan International Airport – on board were 241 people from Japan. This was Mongolia’s eighth evacuation charter since the country cancelled all flights on 24 February to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The passengers and seven members of flight crew have been placed in quarantine at the National Centre for Communicative Diseases and the Central Military Hospital for 21 days of observation. According to officials, most of the evacuated people from Japan are Mongolian students studying in the USA and Mongolians from European countries.

Another evacuation plane will fly to South Korea on 8 April.
