The Ulaanbaatar City Administration has banned hiking and trekking activities since 26 February in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection. However, following popular demand, the UB Administration has decided to open mountain roads for hiking and trekking. According to Mayor S.Amarsaikhan, people must continue to keep a 2 meter distance from each other during family hiking.
Separately, the UB City Administration has decided to extend the closure of sports, cultural and public services such as resorts, pubs, saunas, places of worship and education centres until 30 April. Previously, the administration had considered the possibility of opening fitness, saunas and cultural centres for limiting gatherings of 2-3 people, however, it decided not to do so due to the second weave of coronavirus returning to Asia from Europe.
