International peacekeepers participating in US-led Resolute Support in Afghanistan have sung “we are the world” in a show of solidarity. Interestingly, in the video clip, the peacekeepers sang the song in front of Mongolian flag.

Sharing a border with China, which is where coronavirus first appeared, Mongolia has had a tough approach from the start, closing schools and universities and banning mass gatherings. It remained virus-free until the beginning of this week, when a French national disobeyed the instruction to self-quarantine and brought the virus to the streets of the capital, Ulaanbaatar. Now, everyone who had contact with him is being screened. Mongolia’s approach contrasts starkly with that of other nations, whose ‘laissez faire’ attitude is now resulting in massive infection rates and fatalities.
